Liquidation in finance and economics is the process of bringing a business to an end and distributing its assets to claimants. Business rescue, as defined by the Companies Act 2008, aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of a company that is “financially distressed” by providing for: the temporary supervision of the company and management of its affairs, business and property by a business rescue practitioner, a temporary moratorium (“stay”) on the rights of claimants against the company or in respect of property in its possession and the development and implementation (if approved) of a business rescue plan to rescue the company by restructuring its business, property, debt, affairs, other liabilities and equity.

Our Founder

MJ Lombard is a practising attorney  with 25 years’ experience and an accredited mediator.

 

He holds a Masters degree in Real Estate (UP), Certificate in Engineering and Construction Contracts and is he a registered member with the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession and the Estate Agency Board.

 

He lectures as a guest lecturer at the University of Pretoria at the Faculty of Engineering and Build Environment.
